"I was blown away with the fashion scene in NYC and all of the glamorous hairstyles of the 80's & 90's. My time working as a model opened the door to the celebrity world of hairstyling."
Mesmerized by gorgeous hairstyles since childhood, Dennis left the University of Georgia during his sophomore year and began his career in the fashion and beauty industry as a model in New York City, represented by Sue Charney at Faces Model Management. He quickly turned his attention to his true passion, hairstyling.
After becoming a licensed cosmetologist, he landed his first job as a receptionist at the famed Kenneth Salon inside the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Dennis says..."Kenneth is world famous for styling hair for Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe. He is my favorite hairdresser of all time and the biggest influence of my career." He later trained at the Frederic Fekkai Salon inside Bergdorf-Goodman.
Once in Hollywood, he booked the gig-of-a-lifetime as the hairstylist for Paula Abdul on the television show American Idol. Dennis says..."Working in Los Angeles was magical. Of course, Paula was my fave. But, working with Carmen Electra, Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria was always a thrill. "His first red-carpet bookings were with CNN/Showbiz Tonight, creating hairstyles for entertainment correspondent and fellow UGA alum, Brooke Anderson. Dennis says..."I worked with Brooke first for the Oscars, and later, the Emmys, the Grammys and the Golden Globes."
Most recently, he worked as the Artistic Director, Salon Montage, Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina. Dennis is a longtime Contributing Editor for the top-rated lifestyle BLOG, LA-STORY.
